Safari Condo Will Honour GM’s Warranty

For several months now, there has been extensive media coverage on the difficulties that GM, Chrysler and Ford have been experiencing. At Safari Condo, we sincerely believe that these companies are a vital part of the North American economy and that they will be able to successfully restructure their operations with the appropriate government support. Although we are confident on this point, we understand that some of our clients may be concerned about the warranties of these manufacturers. In order to reassure our clients and prospective buyers, Safari Condo will honour the terms of the GM warranty on all new Safari Condo vehicles delivered after the first of May 2009 in the event that the warranty is not honoured.

February 24, 2009 - An Invitation from the Chamber of Commerce of Saint-Joseph

During their series of morning conferences, the Chamber of Commerce of Saint-Joseph invited Mr. Daniel Nadeau, president of Safari Condo, to come talk about the challenges and passions of his life. Although the conference recognizes individuals who contribute to the growth of their community, the main goal of the conference is to show teens the importance of believing in their dreams. The Chamber of Commerce therefore invites students from the local high school in order to offer these youths examples of perseverance and determination. The Chamber of Commerce of Saint-Joseph is highly conscious of the rural exodus problem and the high suicide rates in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. It wishes to do its part to help youths believe in their abilities and in their future.

March 9, 2009 - Frosted Snails in Mauricie

Between February 13th and 15th, the Frosted Snails met in Mauricie for their annual winter gathering. 17 vehicles had set up camp at L’Attente campground in St-Jean-des-Piles, on de the edge of the Mauricie National Park. Nestled between the St-Maurice River and the mountains, this campground/inn/restaurant is also a snowmobile relay. On the agenda for the weekend were camp fires, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and a friendly broomball tournament where team “Givrés” faced off against team “Frostés”. The cross country and snow shoeing trails were less than 3 km away and the snowmobile trails passed directly on site. This made it the perfect location for everyone to participate in their favourite activity to their heart’s content. Those in a more relaxed mood lounged in the warm rays of the sun that held the promise of the arrival of spring.

October 29, 2008 - Daniel Nadeau Named Ambassador for the Town of St-Frédéric

On October 29 2008, the CLD Robert-Cliche held the 10th edition of the Soirée des Sommets (Gala of the Summits). This year, each of the 10 villages in the county selected a personality that had stood out in the community and that had well represented this community at a national or international level. Mr. Daniel Nadeau, president of Safari Condo, was honoured with an “Ambassador’s Summit” trophy by the municipality of St-Frédéric. His words best sum up his pride in his company and its products: “I personally may not be an excellent Ambassador for the municipality of St-Frédéric, but our products certainly are. Our Safari Condos travel from the North Pole to the Argentinean Tierra del Fuego, and even in Europe. If one day you are in Vancouver and you see a Safari Condo, you’ll know it was made in St-Frédéric. Although I am not originally from St-Frédéric, this town adopted me 8 years ago and I am truly proud of that.”

Septembre 19, 2008 - New production assistant at Safari Condo

Since September 19 2008, Miss Dominique Nadeau occupies the post of production assistant at the Safari Condo manufacturing plant. A little over two years ago, after completing a Bachelor’s degree in English literature at McGill University, Dominique joined the sales team at Safari Condo. Being the daughter of Daniel and Michèle Nadeau, she witnessed firsthand the creation of the company and she was already an experienced “Condist” thanks to her numerous trips with her parents. This gave her all the experience necessary to be a great advisor to our customers. Her fluency in English also allowed her to take care of our Anglophone clientele and take charge of the translation work. The development of the Alto created a need for a production assistant, and so, Dominique’s services were required at our plant in St-Frédéric.

September 19, 2008 - A new face at the sales office

Miss Émilie Sauvé has recently joined the Safari Condo sales team. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and a solid knowledge of our products, Émilie is a tremendous asset to Safari Condo. Because her mother is Johanne Nadeau, our sales director, Émilie has literally grown up with the company and has used our products frequently. Passionate and dynamic, she will surely communicate her passion to her colleagues and our clients.

Welcome to the team Émilie!

August 14, 2008 - Results of the Fundraising for the Foundation On the Tip of the Toes

The Safari Condo reunion is always like a big family gathering. It’s a moment when sharing is a way of living and when one puts the needs of the group before his or her own. This requires generosity, a little selflessness and a great deal of respect for others. These are the great strengths of our group of clients, the Condists. To celebrate properly our 10th anniversary, we thought of using this great generosity to the benefit others outside our group. We wanted to give to those who may be living trough difficult times, some of the gifts that life has so generously bestowed on us.

Because we are all passionate about outdoors activities, it was natural for Safari Condo to support the foundation On the Tip of the Toes. This charity helps restore the self-esteem and strength of teens diagnosed with cancer by offering them the chance to face an exceptional challenge through therapeutic adventure expeditions. One of the co-founders of this foundation, Mario Bilodeau, is a native of our home region of Beauce. Asides from being an accomplished mountain climber, he also holds a doctorate in education through adventure and he teaches at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi.

We asked everyone to participate in our fundraising effort and many answered the call by starting to raise donations right away. In total 15 clients and employees of Safari Condo put their heads up for auction during the shave-a-thon. A group of employees from Safari Condo made and sold small wooden hand painted snails for this cause. A Chinese auction was organized by a group of condists and there were also special edition cycling shirts sporting the colors of Safari Condo and the foundation which were sold. This great team effort along with the generosity of our clients, families and friends allowed us to raise almost 9000$! This amount will allow many teens to fly off to an incredible adventure and find in the beauty of nature the strength inside them that they need to fight their disease.

Congratulations to everyone! It’s together that we can do great things.

You can help change the lives of these young people too! Go visit the foundation website and share in their great adventures.

July 1, 2008 - Celebrating 10 Years with a Big Event

During the weekend of June 20 to 23 Safari Condo held its 10th annual Reunion. The event was supposed to take place at the Base de Plein Air de la Chaudière, in Vallée-Jonction. The ChaudièreRiver, however, had decided otherwise and changed our plans. The torrential rains that fell during the week preceding our event caused the river to flood the land we had planned to use as our campground. Our plans, carefully elaborated over 9 months, had to be rethought and changed in less than 24 hours. It was therefore on municipal grounds that our 184 Safari Condos and their crews set up for this great weekend. This last minute change would not have been possible without the priceless help of several volunteer condists and employees who worked long rainy days to relocate all our installations.

Even with this last minute change of venue and the unstable weather, there was a lot of fun to be had, and human warmth amply compensated for the shy sun which shinned periodically. Our clients were able to enjoy visits at the Cliche sawmill and the old railway station. They could also participate in some geocaching, bicycling, kayaking and, of course, simply catching up with friends.

In order to celebrate its 10th anniversary, the team of organizers thought of associating this special event with a foundation. They therefore invited Mr. Mario Bilodeau, a native of Beauce and a professor of the University of Chicoutimi, to come and talk about his experiences climbing mountains. In addition to being the co-founder and director of the Outdoors and Tourism program at the university, Mario is also the co-founder of the On the Tip of the Toes foundation. This charity organizes therapeutic adventures in the wild with youths diagnosed with cancer. As a way of raising funds for this cause, a shave-o-thon was organized. In addition to this a Chinese auction was held, employees sold hade-made snails, and special Safari CondoOn the Tip of the Toes cycling shirts were designed to raise additional funds. The participation of the condists, our employees and the response to the fundraising were simply amazing. Safari Condo would like to thank everyone for their involvement and their great generosity.

You can see pictures of the event here and photo albums from some of our clients here and here.

June 1, 2008 - Condists will be celebrating in Beauce!

Safari Condo is currently preparing its 10th Great Annual Reunion which will be held in Beauce, home of all the Safari Condos, as a way of commemorating the 10 year anniversary of the company. To this day, 180 vehicles and their occupants will be joining in this great celebration from June 20 to 23, 2008. The participants will make their homes, for the weekend, on the banks on the Chaudière River, in the heart of the village of Vallée-Jonction. Participants will be able to exchange with each other and take this opportunity to discover the Beauce. There will be numerous activities offered and participants will be able to choose between bicycling, canoeing or kayaking on the Chaudière, several interesting conferences, geo-caching in the area and shopping in our Condo-Boutique just to name a few of the suggested activities. The traditional group supper will be held on Saturday night followed by the musical group the Flambants Rockers. Vallée-Jonction, which has been host to an important painting symposium for over 20 years now, made this cultural event coincide with our Great Annual Reunion. Painters will therefore be part of our landscape all weekend long and will offer us a different perspective on the area.

We have enough space for 300 vehicles and we would like to break our record attendance of 200 vehicles. Therefore, if you wish to come celebrate with us, there is still room! We will accept subscriptions until June 13. Our temporary campground offers sites with or without electricity, 22 showers (with continuous hot water!) and clean toilets. If you would like to join us simply contact us at the e-mail address below and I will send you all the information you need.

In the hope to see you there,

Michèle Nadeau,

May 20, 2008 - Happy Birthday Safari Condo !

On March 5th 2008, Safari Condo was celebrating its 10th Anniversary. On this day 10 years ago the company was presenting it’s first two Safari Condo vehicles at the local GM dealership in Vallée-Jonction. At this time the company had a team of 4 employees, no plant and its business plan aimed at selling 15 vehicles per year. So many accomplishments in such a short period of time! Safari Condo now has 2 production plants, 35 employees and produces over 150 vehicles per year. In order to commemorate this major landmark in its history, the company will hold its Great Annual Reunion in Beauce, the home of all Safari Condos. This homecoming, which will reunite almost 200 vehicles on the banks of the Chaudière River, will be an exceptional moment for the founders of the company. Furthermore, they will have the chance to share this celebration with those who are at the heart of the company: the clients and employees of Safari Condo.

Happy 10th Birthday to Safari Condo!

May 3, 2008 – L’Ouest Américain en Safari Condo, Édition pour tous

Two Safari Condo owners have published a journal (in French) about a trip they have taken through the most beautiful National Parks in the American West. Mr and Mrs Rooke left Québec on April 28, 2007 with a precise route to follow, but these two retirees were able to allow themselves the freedom of a more flexible schedule. Being great outdoors enthusiasts and experienced hikers, they concentrated their travels more on the vast natural spaces than on major cities. It is mostly by foot that the Rookes discovered the natural wonders of the American West in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and California. Amongst their natural discoveries, they experienced rock climbing in Mesa Verde, Colorado and in Garapata State Park in California, as well as hiking in the Grand Canyon. Their travel journal includes a map of their itinerary, information on each destination with the mileage traveled, the pros and cons of such a trip, as well as suggestions of places to spend the night. Our two septuagenarians have traveled on average 215 km per day, have spent $7 387 and have returned transformed from the inside by this adventure in the West.

An article about this journal has been published in La Presse of Saturday May 3, 2008 on page 8 of the travel section. To purchase the book you can consult the publisher’s website at the address below. It is, however, useless to call the Safari Condo plant or sales office as they do not have the book in stock.
