Choosing my vehicle

It will allow you to explore your personal needs while considering the many combinations offered by Safari Condo. This approach will help you find your Safari Condo. The one that exactly fits both your needs and your lifestyle.

A Safari Condo or an Alto?

Safari Condo

I want a small motorhome because:
  • I can use it as first or second car.
  • I want a comfortable vehicle that is economical to drive for long trips.
  • I want a comfortable vehicle that is economical to drive for long trips.
  • I do not want to tow.
  • I want to tow, but maintain my towing capability for toys ex: boat, motorcycle, horse.
  • I like to have everything with me all the time.
  • I love having access to the fridge while driving.
  • I do not like to plan and want to be independent at all times, not just on a trip or during my holidays. (example: sleep at a friend’s, go to the movies or restaurant in the city and decide come nighttime to spend the night there)
  • I want to easily park in the city with my recreational vehicle.
  • I want a flexible vehicle that can easily take me from the city to the back roads.
  • I want to spend the night anywhere without being bothered. (In a street, parking airport or hospital etc.)
  • I want my recreational vehicle as my base camp for my winter outings.
Alto

I want an Alto because:
  • I like its modern look and great windows.
  • I like an Alto made entirely of aluminum technology.
  • I appreciate the fact that it is built from durable high quality materials.
  • It is important to me that the Alto is made of recyclable materials.
  • I can tow it with vehicles equipped with a smaller engine.
  • I do not have to change my family car and purchase a larger vehicle to be able to tow the Alto.
  • I find it useful to be able to store the Alto inside my 7’ garage (R series) or 8’ garage (F series).
  • I like having the choice of accessories that will allow me to customize my Alto to fit my needs and my lifestyle.
  • I like being able to leave my recreational vehicle on the campsite to visit with my car.

GM, Mercedes or Ram?

GM
The M and L series vehicles come equipped with a gasolione engine and are availaible with an optional diesel engine.

I want a GM vehicle because:
  • I love the brand and the reliability of GM products.
  • I like the idea of a pop up roof and the benefits of a lower center of gravity and reduced aerodynamic drag. Roof options ensure a lower overall height of the vehicle.
  • I find that the price of the GM Series fits perfectly with my budget.
  • I want a gasoline engine. (The Mercedes Series only comes equipped with a diesel engine)
  • I appreciate its body made entirely of highly corrosion-resistant galvanized steel.
  • I love the robustness of the chassis: it is a body on frame construction (not a unibody construction).
  • I know that in the case of problem on a trip, servicing is always easily accessible throughout America.
  • I like a lower vehicle, because it is consequently less sensitive to cross-winds and more discreet.
  • I appreciate the fact that I can install a kayak rack on the roof.
  • I love the fact that it can carry a motorcycle weighing up to 400 lb. in the rear hitch using an appropriate support.
Mercedes
The Mercedes Sprinter Series comes standard with a diesel engine.

I want a Mercedes vehicle because:
  • I have always dreamed of owning a Mercedes.
  • I appreciate its European design.
  • I have confidence in German engineering.
  • I love the European drive and comfort.
  • I value its 4-cylinder diesel engine and its outstanding fuel economy for a vehicle this size.
  • I love its driving assistance system and the security it provides. The driving assistance system is a Safari Condo exclusive and includes: risk of collision, blind spot and lane change alarms and high beam assist.
  • I like a vehicle that is easy to park (short turning radius – 46 ft. on the 19.5 ft. Series)
  • I like a high-opening side door because I do not have to duck when entering.
  • I love not having to open a roof.
  • I like its internal shoulder-level clearance. Its walls are straighter and offer almost the same width at shoulder-level and floor level.
  • I appreciate the eye-level storage with sliding doors.
  • I like its window arrangement and its panoramic windshield. It's a bright vehicle with a great visibility.
  • I do not wish to install any roof-top kayak rack or container.
  • I find it convenient to have stand-up access to a full-height cockpit.
Ram
The Ram ProMaster series comes standard with a gasoline or an optional 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine.

I want a Ram vehicle because:
  • I appreciate its European design.
  • I find the Ram series comes at a great price which fits my budget perfectly.
  • I like front-wheel drives.
  • I like having the choice between a gas and a turbo-diesel engine.
  • I appreciate the corrosion-resistant galvanized steel body.
  • I love a vehicle that’s easy to park (the shortest turning radius in the industry).
  • I appreciate the safety offered by its 6 airbags.
  • I appreciate the easier access to the vehicle because the step-in height is 7 '' lower than the competition.
  • I know that if something goes wrong on a trip, it is very easy to repair anywhere in America.
  • I don’t want to install a kayak support or box on the roof.
  • I like not having to raise the roof.
  • I like not having to bend when entering through the high-clearance side door.
  • I love the great storage capacity of its two refrigerators (the 2nd is optional). No longer need to carry an electric cooler for the drinks: these coolers consume a lot of energy. Both refrigerators are distinct: they can be set at different temperatures. If you are camping in the wild and wish to save energy, shut one down and use it for storage.

M 18' or L 20' Series?

M Series
The M Series comes standard with gas heating and a very efficient electric water heater. A propane group is available as an option.

I want an M Series vehicle because:
  • I find that the M 18' Series’ low price fits perfectly with my budget.
  • I want a vehicle that I can use every day.
  • I need a multifunctional vehicle.
  • I want to be as inconspicuous as possible. I am a low-profile traveler.
  • I appreciate parking with ease in a regular parking spot, even with bikes on the back.
  • I appreciate that I rarely have to pay extra fees for the length of the vehicle when taking ferries, even with bikes on the back.
  • I feel more comfortable driving it.
  • I am an outdoors person.
  • I like being outside and enjoy camping.
  • I love eating outside in good weather.
  • I wish a minimum footprint in my laneway or garage.
  • I travel with little equipment (lightweight) and do not need a large vehicle.
L Series
The L Series comes standard with propane heating and water heater.

I want an L Series vehicle because:
  • I like its excellent handling. The vehicle has a very long wheelbase providing lots of stability on the road.
  • We travel as a family and appreciate the interior space of the L Series.
  • We travel with more than 4 people and the LSX carries up to 6 people safely.
  • I prefer a more spacious interior.
  • I love the amenities of the L Series: front dinette, 2 fridges, interior shower, etc.
  • I appreciate the separate living areas. For example, one may be resting in the back while another sits at the table or takes a shower.
  • I appreciate parking easily in a regular parking space.
  • I appreciate that there is little or no extra fees to pay on ferries because of the length of the vehicle.
  • I wish to take long trips and want every possible comfort without losing sight of fuel economy.
  • In case of bad weather, I want to be able to live inside and feel comfortable.

M Jr Series on a 1 500 Chassis or M Series on a 2 500 Chassis?

M Jr 1 500

I want a 1 500 chassis M Jr Series vehicle because:
  • I want to store it in my garage. When equipped with the ultra-thin roof, this chassis can slip under a 7’ high garage door.
  • I find that the M Jr Series is in a price range that fits perfectly with my budget.
  • The lowest authorized maximum weight (7,300 Lb.) of the 1 500 chassis still meets my needs. I am not one who travels with 4 bikes and two kayaks. I travel light.
  • I like smaller engines such as the 4.3 L V6, lower-priced and more economical in the city.
  • I'm looking for both power and economy and the 5.3 L V8 engine available on the 1 500 chassis meets these needs. In the Safari Condo lineup, it’s the most economical gasoline engine on the highway.
  • I need a vehicle with optional 4WD.
  • I wish a canvas roof, not an electric roof. Electric roof is not available on the M Jr Series.
  • I am not looking for a diesel engine. The diesel engine is not available on the M Series.
  • I do not wish to install the propane group on my vehicle. The 1 500 chassis does not offer enough payload to install the heavier propane tank and devices.
  • A running board without storage suits me fine.
M 2 500

I want a 2 500 chassis M Series vehicle because:
  • I like its robustness, with its HD (heavy duty) suspension and braking system with an authorized maximum weight of 8 600 lbs.
  • I bring with me lots of equipment such as kayaks, bikes, trailer with motorcycles or snowmobiles, etc.
  • I appreciate a small V8 such as the 4.8 L.
  • I like the flexibility, smoothness and fuel economy of its HD 6-speed transmission.
  • I want the optional electric roof. Electric roof is not available on the 1 500 chassis.
  • I want a vehicle with the optional propane group.
  • I want a vehicle with the fibreglass running boards and the built-in storage compartment.

Interior clearance roof down: 1.37 m (54")

  • I want a vehicle with optimal aerodynamics to reach maximum fuel economy and reduce cross-wind impact.
  • A lower center of gravity enhances vehicle manoeuvrability.
  • I want to have the lightest vehicle possible.
  • I like the look of a vehicle with an ultra-thin roof.
  • I like the low-profile of the ultra-thin roof.
  • It doesn't bother me to have to raise the roof whenever I want to do something in the vehicle.
  • I don’t expect to do a lot of winter camping in Northern areas where I must leave the roof closed, because I know the ultra thin roof allows for much less headroom with the roof down.

  • I like how simple it is to open the roof. I can do it with my fingertips simply by pressing a button.
  • I appreciate its superior insulation from outside noise and temperature variations.
  • I can safely leave it open anywhere. With its rigid sides and its glass windows, it is impossible to slip into the vehicle by the roof even when open.
  • I appreciate winter camping. I can open it and still keep warm inside.
  • The quality storage that comes with the electrical roof (Cabinets at rear and front).
  • It doesn't bother me to lose a little storage.
  • I want a kayak rack on the roof. Even with two kayaks, I can raise the electric roof with one fingertip.
  • I love the windows on the sides of the roof. Safari Condo is the only manufacturer to offer eye-level side windows in a class B.

Full-height or Low-profile Regular Canvas Roof? (Height of roof when up)
Both the full-height and low profile regular canvas roofs are the same price.

A Ram ProMaster 18' MX or ProMaster 21' XL Flex?

ProMaster 18' MX

I want a ProMaster 18' MX because:
  • I appreciate parking easily in a regular parking space even with bikes on the back.
  • I appreciate little or no overhead charge on ferries even with bikes on the back.
  • I feel comfortable driving it.
  • I'm an outdoors person.
  • I love living outdoors and enjoy camping.
  • In good weather, I like to eat outside.
  • I love its huge counter.
  • I want a vehicle that I can use every day.
  • I need a multipurpose vehicle.
  • I wish a minimum footprint in my driveway or garage.
  • I'm comfortable with the 55 ½” bed with walls on both sides that I can use completely. Unlike at home, I can't fall off.
ProMaster 21' XL Flex

I want a 21' ProMaster XL Flex because:
  • Uncompromising, I want everything! A permanent Queen-size bed, two refrigerators, a dinette and an indoor shower in a highly maneuverable vehicle.
  • I want a fully enclosed shower/toilet compartment.
  • I want to store my bike and my equipment inside. I won’t leave them outside on a rack.
  • I need a cargo space I can modulate according to my needs and activities. The power height-adjustable bed of the Flex allows me to raise or lower my bed to accommodate my luggage and equipment. I like being able to choose between 5 bed configurations: power height-adjustable bed, permanent bed, Twins-to-King convertible bed, bunk beds, bench-bed.
  • I like its 2nd fridge with outside access.
