The materials
Walls and roof are built using a plastic honeycomb sandwich core, laminated with aluminium skin on one side and Alufiber skin on the other for the roof, and with aluminium skin on both sides for the walls. Alufiber combines the light weight properties of aluminium with the resistance of fiberglass. The alto is built excusively from materials that are water resistant such as aluminium, Alufiber, plastic, Formica and glass. Inside, the cabinets are made from aluminium and composite materials. Rigid ultra light sandwich panels are integrated inside the seat cushions, while the structure of the seats and beds is made entirely from aluminium extrusions.Underneath the alto
The Alto provides great stability on the road because of its "Flexiride" independent suspension system and its very low centre of gravity. Its aluminium frame is constructed without any welding, and it supports streamlined holding tanks designed to optimize the aerodynamics. A Functional Approach
At an exterior height of 2,10m (83") with the roof closed, the alto can conveniently be stored inside your garage. Once the roof is opened, the Alto offers a highly comfortable living space with an interior height of 2,08m (82"). Its front dinette is usable even when the rear bed is set up. The beds, fridge, storage, and toilet are all usable when the roof is down. Two distinct dining areas are available by simply moving the table. A model with an interior shower is also offered.
The Ecological Travel Trailer
Due to the constant increase of gas prices and the social responsibility of each person to reduce the consumption of non-renewable fossil fuels, Safari Condo wanted to create an ultra light travel trailer with the lowest possible drag ratio.
A trailer that met these two criteria could then be towed by vehicules with smaller engines.
Furthermore, in keeping with our respectful approach to environmental issues, we wanted to choose
construction materials that
would not only be very light, but
also recyclable..

The Roof
The retractable roof is free from joints because its skin is made from a single sheet of aluminium. It is opened and closed by electric actuators. Its crescent-shaped windows are made from tinted tempered glass. Wind tunnel tests reveal that, once closed, the roof gives the alto an aerodynamic shape which creates 75% less aerodynamic drag than a traditional travel trailer. The aerodynamics of the alto, together with its light weight, mke it easy to tow by most compact cars and small SUVs.
