Choosing my vehicle

This small questionnaire is a useful addition to our online brochure and all the information contained on our website concerning our products. It will allow you to explore your personal needs while considering the many combinations offered by Safari Condo. This approach will help you find your Safari Condo. The one that exactly fits both your requirements and your lifestyle.

A Safari Condo or an Alto?

Safari Condo
I want a small motorhome because:
  • I can use it as first or second car.
  • I do not want to tow.
  • I want to tow, but maintain my towing capability for toys ex: boat, motorcycle, horse.
  • I like to have everything with me all the time.
  • I love having access to the fridge while driving.
  • I do not like to plan and want to be independent at all times, not just on a trip or during my holidays. (example: sleep at a friend’s, go to the movies or restaurant in the city and decide come nighttime to spend the night there)
  • I want to easily park in the city with my recreational vehicle.
  • I want to spend the night anywhere without being bothered. (In a street, parking airport or hospital etc.)
  • I want my recreational vehicle as my base camp for my winter outings.
Alto
I want an Alto because:
  • I like its modern look and great windows.
  • I like an Alto made entirely of aluminum technology.
  • It is important to me that the Alto is made of recyclable materials.
  • The price fits into my budget.
  • I don't want an additional motor vehicle because of the related maintenance costs (plates, insurance, etc.)
  • I am comfortable driving with a trailer.
  • I am comfortable backing up and positioning a trailer on a given site.
  • The time and physical effort required to attach the Alto to the car doesn't bother me.
  • I like being able to leave my recreational vehicle on the campsite to visit with the car.
  • I do not need to have my things with me permanently. It doesn't bother me to plan what I need to bring with me for my day at the beach.
  • I will use my recreational vehicle exclusively for vacationing and not in my daily activities.
  • I am not a fan of winter camping.
  • I will not spend the night in places where I must be low-profile. (Along a street, in a hospital or airport parking)
  • I do not like to hear the sounds of the equipment I bring on holidays.

GM or Mercedes?

GM
The M Series comes standard with a gasoline engine, while the L Series offers a choice of a gasoline or diesel engine.
I want a GM vehicle because:
  • I love the brand and the reliability of GM products.
  • I like the idea of a sunroof and the benefits of a lower center of gravity and reduced aerodynamic drag. Roof options ensure a lower vehicle overall height.
  • I find that the price of the GM Series is perfectly consistent with my budget.
  • I want a gasoline engine. (The Mercedes Series only comes equipped with a diesel engine)
  • I appreciate its body made entirely of highly corrosion-resistant galvanized steel.
  • I love the robustness of the chassis: it is not a unibody construction.
  • I know that in the case of problem on a trip, servicing is very accessible throughout America.
  • I like a lower vehicle, consequently less sensitive to cross-winds and more low-profile.
  • I appreciate the fact that can install a kayak rack on the roof.
  • I love the fact that it can carry a motorcycle weighing up to 400 lb. on the rear bumper using an appropriate support.
Mercedes
The Mercedes Sprinter Series comes standard with a diesel engine.
I want a Mercedes vehicle because:
  • I have always dreamed of owning a Mercedes.
  • I appreciate its European design.
  • I have confidence in German know-how.
  • I appreciate its diesel engine and fuel economy for a vehicle of its size.
  • I like a vehicle that is easy to park (short turning radius – 46 ft. on the 19.5 ft. Series)
  • I like a high-opening side door and not have to duck to enter.
  • I love not having to open a roof.
  • I like its internal shoulder-level clearance. Its walls are much more vertical and offer almost the same width at shoulder-level and floor level.
  • I like its window arrangement and its immense windshield. It's a bright vehicle with a view.
  • I do not wish to install any roof-top kayak or container.
  • I find it convenient to have stand-up access to a full-height cockpit.

M 18' or L 20' Series?

M Series
The M Series comes standard with gas heating and a very efficient electric water heater. A propane group is optional on the 2 500 chassis.
I want an M Series vehicle because:
  • I find that the M 18' Series’ low price is perfectly consistent with my budget.
  • I want a vehicle that I can use every day.
  • I need a multifunctional vehicle.
  • I do not want a diesel engine.
  • I want to be as inconspicuous as possible. I am a low-profile traveler.
  • I appreciate parking with ease in a regular parking spot, even with bikes in the back.
  • I appreciate the slight if at all overload on ferries, even with bikes in the back.
  • I feel more comfortable driving it.
  • I am an outdoors person.
  • I like being outside and enjoy camping.
  • I love eating outside in good weather.
  • I wish a minimum footprint in my laneway or garage.
  • I travel with little equipment (lightweight) and do not need a large vehicle.
L Series
The L Series comes standard with propane heating and water heater.
I want an L Series vehicle because:
  • I like its excellent handling. The vehicle has a very long wheelbase providing lots of stability on the road.
  • We travel as a family and appreciate the interior space of the L Series.
  • We travel with more than 4 people and the LSX carries 6 people safely.
  • I want to have more room around me. I am a little claustrophobic.
  • I love the amenities of the L Series: front dinette, 2 fridges, interior shower, etc.
  • I appreciate the separate living areas. For example, one may be resting in the back while another sits at the table or takes a shower.
  • I appreciate parking easily in a regular parking space.
  • I appreciate that there is little or no overhead on ferries.
  • I wish to take long trips and want every possible comfort without losing sight of fuel consumption.
  • In case of bad weather, I want to be able to live inside and feel comfortable.

M Jr Series on a 1 500 Chassis or M Series on a 2 500 Chassis?

M Jr 1 500
I want a 1 500 chassis M Jr Series vehicle because:
  • I want to store it in my garage and because it is low with the ultra-thin roof chassis, it can slip under a 7’ high garage door.
  • I find that the M Jr Series is in a price range that is perfectly consistent with my budget.
  • The lowest authorized maximum weight (7,300 Lb.) of the 1 500 chassis still meets my needs. I am not one who travels with their bikes on the rear bumper, two kayaks and 4 bikes. I can travel light.
  • I like smaller engines such as the 4.3 L V6, lower-priced and more economical in the city.
  • I'm looking for both power and economy and the 5.3 L V8 engine available on the 1 500 chassis meets these needs. In the Safari Condo lineup, it’s the most economical gasoline engine on the highway.
  • I need a vehicle with optional 4WD.
  • I wish a canvas roof, not an electric roof. Electric roof is not available on the M Jr Series.
  • I do wish a diesel engine. The diesel engine is not available on the M Series.
  • I do not wish to install the propane group on my vehicle. The 1 500 chassis does not offer enough payload to install the heavier propane tank and devices.
  • A running board without storage suits me fine.
M 2 500
I want a 2 500 chassis M Series vehicle because:
  • I like its robustness, suspension and HD (heavy duty) braking system and authorized maximum weight of 8 600 lbs.
  • I bring with me lots of equipment such as kayaks, bikes, trailer with motorcycles or snowmobiles, etc.
  • I appreciate a small V8 such as the 4.8 L.
  • I do not want a diesel engine. The diesel engine is not available in the M Series.
  • I like the flexibility, smoothness and fuel economy of this HD 6-speed transmission.
  • I want the optional electric roof. Electric roof is not available on the 1 500 chassis.
  • I want a vehicle with the optional propane group.
  • I want a vehicle with fiberglass running board storage.

  • A lower center of gravity enhances vehicle maneuverability.

  • I like the low-profile of the ultra-thin roof.

  • I can safely leave it open anywhere. With its rigid sides and its glass windows, it is impossible to slip into the vehicle by the roof even when open.
  • I appreciate winter camping. I can open it and still keep warm inside.
  • The quality storage that comes with the electrical roof (Cabinets at rear and front).
  • It doesn't bother me to lose a little storage.
  • I want a kayak rack on the roof. Even with two kayaks, raise the electric roof with your fingertip.
  • I love the opening windows on the sides of the roof. Safari Condo is the only manufacturer to offer eye-level side windows in a class B.
